Why are humans here? What is our purpose? Is it for religion, to sing out a holy name and feel loved and cherished by the voice of the unknown universe? Or is to for pleasure? To live wild and fast, drunk and loud. To live life for yourself and nobody else. Maybe for knowledge, to read an endless book and know everything and yet so little. To explore, to see the peaks and valleys and hills and rivers? To love? To find another heart that beats to the same tone yours does?

For loyalty? To belong to something you truly believe is more important than the moment that is your life? Do you live for others? For nature? For the moon the stars the sea?

Why are humans here? What is our purpose?

The same questions are asked in the night. They go unanswered, they go unheard. Sing the same song, but listen even better.

books?? amazing. paperbacks?? soft, cozy, may fit in your pocket, cheap so you don’t feel bad for taking notes in them. hardcovers??? beautiful, pristine, ground you into the world they hold by making you grip them tighter, the stars of every bookshelf. ebooks?? convenient, cheap, always with you, a vast library that you can hold in your palm. new books?? crisp, the smell of wood, ideas waiting to imprint themselves upon the world. old books?? objects transcending history, sweet smelling, enriched by the hands that stroked their pages. books.
